David Landsman, PhD, Deputy Scientific Director of the National Library of Medicine (NLM), part of the National Institutes of Health, has been selected as a 2025 Fellow of the International Society for Computational Biology (ISCB). The announcement was made on March 11, 2025.

The ISCB Fellows program was created to honor members who have distinguished themselves through outstanding contributions to the fields of computational biology and bioinformatics. ISCB recognized Dr. Landsman for his pioneering contributions to computational methods in histone biology, chromatin structure, and gene regulation, as well as his contributions to NLM’s biological databases and resources.

Dr. Landsman has been with NLM for almost 40 years, exploring intersections between computational biology and biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, and genetics. His research has focused on data science methods to better understand chromatin structure and gene regulation.

In addition to his role as Deputy Scientific Director, Dr. Landsman also serves as Chief of the Computational Biology Branch in the Division of Intramural Research (DIR), as well as Acting Chief of DIR’s Computational Health Research Branch.

“Dr. Landsman’s work in genomic research has been a critical component of NLM's research program, and we are very proud that he has been recognized in this way,” said NLM Acting Director Stephen Sherry, PhD. “Our investigators—including Dr. Landsman—drive many groundbreaking discoveries that accelerate biomedical research and pave the way for innovations that improve health and transform lives.”
